Overview

The Lead Receiver at Roche Bros / Brothers Supermarkets plays a crucial role in maintaining an efficient, organized, and accountable receiving process across all store departments. This position ensures all deliveries are accurately checked, recorded, and processed while maintaining food safety and quality standards. Reporting directly to the store manager, the Lead Receiver leads a team of receivers, oversees receiving procedures, and collaborates with department managers to uphold operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a receiving or related role; grocery or retail experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and leadership abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Direct Store Delivery (DSD) systems, food safety standards, and general merchandise handling.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy items, stand for long periods, and work in varying environments, including refrigerated areas.

Responsibilities

Oversee Receiving Operations

  • Lead all aspects of the receiving process, ensuring standardized procedures for all perishable and non-perishable items.
  • Supervise support receivers, assign tasks based on store needs, and ensure proper training.
  1. Ensure Timely and Accurate Invoicing
  • Manage daily processing and submission of invoices to minimize delays and errors.
  • Manage daily processing and submissions of store to store transfers.
  • Ensure proper credits are received for damages, shortages, and returns.
  1. Maintain Accountability and Reporting
  • Report directly to the store manager for centralized communication and accountability.
  • Collaborate with department managers to confirm that received items meet specifications and resolve discrepancies.
  1. Quality and Food Safety Assurance
  • Conduct random quality checks and weight verifications for high-value items, including meat and seafood.
  • Record temperature logs to meet food safety compliance for all perishable products.
  1. Organize and Secure Backroom Areas
  • Enforce strict receiving hours to maintain a clean and orderly backroom.
  • Implement and oversee security measures to control access to the receiving area.
  1. Centralized Receiving for Store Consistency
  • Oversee deliveries for grocery, dairy, frozen, GM, HBC, and designated perishable items.
  • Work with department managers to gain familiarity with products, ensuring accurate receiving and stocking.
  1. Record-Keeping and Documentation
  • Maintain detailed records of all receiving activities, including product counts, quality inspections, and temperature and weight logs.
  • Ensure proper filing of paperwork such as invoices and delivery logs for audit and inventory purposes.
