Overview

Assist to effectively plan, organize, lead, coordinate, and optimize the materials and human resources in the department to provide variety and high quality merchandise that is appealingly displayed to maximize the sales and profit of the grocery department while maintaining great customer service.  To learn all aspects of managing the grocery department and to function as the department manager in his/her absence.

 

The pay range for this position is $17.49 - $26.39 / hour.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Complete training in beer and wine operations.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work a schedule based on the business needs of the store location.
  • Authorized to work within the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Greet assist and thank customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner.
  • Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with other associated to build a strong grocery team.
  • Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that is Respectful, Supportive and Totally Team Oriented (RSTO).
  • Receive and unload deliveries; check for accuracy; store product in designated area.
  • Keep all beer and wine products in display cases and coolers rotated whenever necessary in accordance with company policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest products first (first in, first out).
  • Clean shelves as they are restocked; arrange/fill shelf and floor displays.
  • Make sure that all shelves and displays are blocked and straightened.
  • Help to maximize profit through creative merchandising and effective buying; keep the department merchandised in accordance with the needs of the community.
  • Properly order beer and wine to fill shelves and minimize over stock.
  • Return all overstock to stockroom in an organized manner.
  • Dust wine bottles and shelves on a daily basis.
  • Perform price changes and make signs when necessary.
  • Notify store manager or assistant store manager of potential shrink or security problems, customer comments, or product supply problems, theft, customer shoplifting, and unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.
  • Monitor cooler and display area temperatures to ensure product quality; report refrigeration failure immediately.
  • Keep sales and work area swept clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.
  • Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
  • Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.

Secondary Job Functions:

  • Assisting the front end with bagging at busy times.
  • Present favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene and business attitude.
  • Properly dispose of trash.
  • Successful completion of the onboarding/e-learnings and checklist within 30 days of hire/entering the department.
  • Other duties assigned by management.
